Ayn Rand and the World She Made
When I joined Twitter, the first thing I learned was that I had to make myself get noticed, so I added myself to those directories (none of which I could name) where I had to categorize myself so that way people would find me and follow me (it still sounds very stalkerish). Little did I know that by listing myself as "Libertarian" would get me half of the followers that I have now.
One person who followed me was Anne Heller, the author of Ayn Rand and the World She Made. This book is the end result of a labor of love. She is extremely proud of this book, and from what I'm gathering from reviews, she should be. This was released around the same time as Goddess of the Market: Ayn Rand and the American Right by Jennifer Burns, which didn't recieve as good a critical response. Feeling some tinge of a loyalty to my Twitter bretheren Heller, I haven't bought that one yet and don't plan on it until after I finish this one.
Who was Ayn Rand? She was a philosopher, most famously known for her two novels The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Most of all, she was a woman I intend on finding out more about while I read this book.
I shall make reports along the way.
